The Heart Behind the Mission
I’m the heart behind Senior Talk Michiana. As a lifelong Michiana resident, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful community can be—especially for seniors who deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported.
Driven by a deep passion for connection and a love for exploring our local neighborhoods, I started this hub to shine a light on the people, programs, and places that make our region such a meaningful place to call home.
Through stories, conversations, and shared resources, my goal is to help seniors and their families discover what’s available to them, feel less alone in the journey of aging, and stay actively engaged in the community they love.
The Story
After losing his wife in 2019, Tom Rose, founder of “Senior Talk Michiana,” wrote “Balloon in a Box: Coping with Grief,” a book that helped him heal and led to nearly 200 speaking engagements at senior organizations.
Through this journey, Tom discovered the challenge of sharing resources with over 250,000 seniors in the Michiana area. In March 2024, he launched a podcast with Pastor Chris Knight to connect seniors and their families with vital resources. Senior Talk Michiana, now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, addresses key senior issues like Social Security, Medicare, fraud awareness, and health concerns.
